Day 62: Momotarou

Day 62 login

My response to Momotaro-san’s proposal was, of course, yes.

No, it’s not like I agreed to the deal right away based on that little bit of information. But I thought I’d at least get in touch with him.

What bothered me was that Rinrin seemed worried for some reason, even though I had readily agreed. She was the one who brought up the deal, yet she kept saying things like, “Be careful,” and “You can’t trust people who live in online games,” trying to make me feel uneasy.

When I asked her why she brought up this deal, she said, “I didn’t think Boutique would agree so easily,” or “I have to at least save face for him.” It was like she was a company employee trying to please a client.

Mamotarou is a merchant who trades with various clans and players. He acts as a broker, so this analogy may not be entirely wrong.

But since he is friends with Rinrin, he can be somewhat trusted.

Needless to say, I was also quite excited that it came at just the right time, addressing my concerns.

Last night, I immediately sent a friend request to Momotarou, and I received a response this morning. I checked after logging in, so it was already nighttime.

[Momotarou]
Sorry for the late reply.
Thank you for your message.
I will answer your questions right away.

[Momotarou]
>Specific prices for soda, recipes, etc.
Soda (sold per dozen): 127,800 Kima
Recipe: 155,000 Kima

[Momotarou]
|Sample prices for material items
Heat Cloth ★5 (sold per meter): 9,800 Kima
Tiger Down Cloth ★5 (sold per meter): 19,800 Kima
Mammoth Fur ★3: 30,990 Kima
Rainbow Lizard Essence ★3: 15,800 Kima

It’s so cheap! 130,000 Kima for a dozen means each one is just over 10,000 Kima! Is that okay? And the recipes…

As for the fabric items, it’s hard to say anything without seeing the texture and patterns, but they all seem cheaper than what I’ve seen at World Market.

And items like [Mammoth Fur] and [Rainbow Lizard Essence] don’t even show up when you search for them on WM.

After searching online to find out what this rare item was, I discovered that the fur is an item that can be obtained in the depths of a newly added field, and the essence is an excellent item that can be used widely and easily in production. Both are popular and rare, and are not often found on the general market.

Wow, that’s amazing.

According to Momotarou, the numbers shown here are not the minimum prices.

[Momotarou]
It is possible to negotiate for a lower price.
For example, depending on the materials and products provided by Vivia-san, as well as various forms of cooperation with other clans, we are prepared to accept more flexible sales contracts.

[Momotarou]
In that situation, we’ll need to have a more detailed discussion.
Since I know you’re busy, I’m considering that you might not have time for that, so I’m presenting the previous proposal first.

Let me be honest. After our interactions so far, I have a very high opinion of this person.

There are three main reasons for this.

First, the pace of our interactions is nice and relaxed.

First, I got a reply to the message I sent yesterday. And even the messages we’ve been sending back and forth today aren’t immediate replies, but rather leisurely responses.

That makes me fond of him.

People like Memeko-san, who respond quickly and are good at communicating, are amazing and admirable. Still, sometimes it is a hassle to keep up the conversation.

That’s because I’m the type of person who likes to take my time and focus on one thing at a time, so I’m not very good at using messaging apps.

Whenever I get a quick response, I have to reply quickly too, which can be stressful.

Momo-san sometimes responds quickly, but other times it takes a while, so it varies.

When that happens, I realise, “Oh, this person is easygoing and does things at their own pace,” which makes me feel a little relieved. Then I think, “It’s okay for me to do the same.”

The second reason is that he openly shares information I want.

This means he can predict what I want to know, which means he’s pretty clever. The communication is smooth, and there’s no awkwardness in the exchanges.

Particularly, the phrase, “It is possible to negotiate for a lower price.” It doesn’t matter if he said it intentionally or not, but this information is very important for my mental health.

Just seeing “Soda (sold per dozen): 127,800 Kima” listed as a bargain price makes me feel a little uneasy.

As the old saying goes, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” When something is offered at such an unbelievably low price, you can’t help but wonder if there’s a catch. Even though they stated that there would be no additional charges beyond the transaction price, I suspect that they will try to charge me exorbitant fees later on.

People who are used to this probably don’t think anything of it, but I’m a beginner in this kind of exchange.

But he immediately dispels that concern by offering to lower the price further if I add something extra to the deal.

The more troublesome the task, the higher the reward—by saying this, he is paradoxically emphasising that he will not ask for any troublesome tasks in this transaction.

This naturally increases my trust in the deal.

Just like he thought, I’m not really into making deals with extra negotiations, but sharing this info is really important to me. It’s smart and makes things easier.

Third, why I like him, this overlaps with the first two reasons, but it’s basically because he’s so straightforward.

He doesn’t seem interested in me personally or pushy about the deal.

He’s polite, but he gets straight to the point and never brings up anything unrelated to business. He’s very professional.

The atmosphere makes it clear that I’m just one of many potential clients, and that he wouldn’t be affected if I turned him down.

Some people might find him cold or impolite, but this distance was just right.

He seemed like the kind of person who would let me do what I wanted to do and not interfere with my life.

Regular transactions can be scheduled once every two weeks or once a week, and additional trades can be made as needed.

The format involves a designated clan member visiting the client’s home to conduct the trade.

The condition is that a minimum of 100,000 Kima transactions must be made every two weeks.

…Hmm, that doesn’t seem like a problem. Who will be assigned to me is a concern, but if I’m dissatisfied with the assigned member, I can request a change.

Alright, let’s go ahead and sign the regular trading agreement!

[Momotarou]
I hooked one!

[Anonymous]
What?

[Momotarou]
Boutique-san

[Anonymous]
Huh?

[Nightingale*]
What?

[Kuma-tan]
You’re going to be the president!

[ee]
What… Boutique-san is joining?

[Momotarou]
She’s not joining as a member.
She just agreed to trade with us regularly.

[Nightingale*]
That’s amazing in itself.
She seems like the type who would hate to be associated with a specific clan.

[Anonymous]
She’s part of society, right?

[ee]
That’s a false rumourr, lol.
The source of that rumour is mainly me, lol.

[Nightingale*]
You should fuck off

[Kuma-tan]
Hmm, that’s quite a bold decision.
She’s been doing her own thing without joining any clan or forming any alliances; she seemed pretty proud of that stance.
Now she’s changed her mind?

[Momotarou]
The timing was right.
No matter how much they become a hot topic or how influential they are, if they lack connections, they’ll eventually realise that they’ve reached a dead end.

[Momotarou]
Besides, she probably doesn’t think she’s deviating from her usual pace.
When I proposed the deal, I was extremely careful not to interfere with her gameplay.
Look at this excellent message that doesn’t reveal any ulterior motives. ↓

[Momotarou]
① Providing soda at an affordable price
② Providing recipes and materials for an affordable price
③ Business Consulting (Advice on Pricing and Products)
If you are interested in any of the above, please contact us.
Please note that we have no requirements for Boutique other than the consideration for this transaction, such as joining our clan or preferential treatment for your products.
We look forward to hearing from you.

[Anonymous]
Waah

[Nightingale*]
As someone who knows Momo-sama, I can only sense ulterior motives.

[Kuma-tan]
>We have no requirements for Boutique other than the consideration for this transaction
This sentence has a hidden meaning.

[ee]
You’re just saying that to try to drag her over to your side, aren’t you? lol

[Momotarou]
Thank you so much for your compliments ^^
But unfortunately, I have no expectations for Boutique-san beyond what she is now.
Sorry for not meeting your expectations.

[Kuma-tan]
That sounds fishy.

[Nightingale*]
…Well, I can understand what Momo-sama is thinking.
Boutique-san is a detonator and the eye of the storm in the current situation.
She is valuable.

[Momotarou]
That’s right.
I don’t want her to lose her power.
I want to strengthen her power even more.

[Anonymous]
“There’s no need for peace in this country,” you say?

[ee]
It’s the waves that create momentum.
It’s Momo-kun’s hobby to take advantage of that momentum to collect Kima, isn’t it?

[Momotarou]
This is a game
Boutique-san is my update, new field.

[Momotarou]
You have to go all out.
