[Ancient City in the Sky Shirogane]
As I entered the town area through the gate, those words appeared in my field of vision and quickly faded out.
As its name suggests, this is a high-altitude location, and from the best vantage points, you can see the sea of clouds below.
Shirahae, like its name suggests, is a place that incorporates Japanese and Asian themes.
The townscape of Shirahane is reminiscent of good old Japan. The wooden houses and townhouses with gray tiled roofs are built in a way that they are nestled against the peaks of the Mt. Murakumo.
The small central street is crowded with buildings, but once you exit the street, houses with fields and rice paddies are scattered around. The village scenery, with its wind-swept mists and majestic mountains, had an idyllic yet mystical atmosphere.
Kamikiri-sama, one of the four Shirahae sages, has a residence on the outskirts of the village.
We followed the directions from the boy who offered to show us the way and walked along the wooden path laid in the rice paddies, and eventually came to a small bamboo grove. Perhaps the house hidden in the distance is the residence of Kamikiri-sama.
Before I knew it, there was no sign of passersby, and all I could hear were frogs and insects.
It must be that I have entered the individual mode. It’s nice, I can immerse myself in the world.
But since the time in the game is evening, the combination of dimness and chilly weather makes it more eerie than gloomy. Hopefully, the house surrounded by bamboo groves will not turn out to be an abandoned house, and Kamikiri-sama will be the master of the haunted house….
Despite my misgivings, I walked along the cobblestone path through the woods. Then, I saw a figure sitting on the porch of the house, looking down at a scroll.
With his long, silky pink-blond hair and the bright peony pattern under his black haori, I mistook him for a woman for a moment, but it seems that he is a beautiful man.
Judging from the fox ears sticking out, the fluffy tail, and the teacup by his side, he doesn’t seem to have a frightening air about him. Thank Goodness.
He noticed me and looked up as I approached him.
“Oh, a guest, is it? Indeed, I am Kamikiri, the “Wind Fox Guarding the Sky,” one of the Four Sages of Shirahae. You have come all the way to this shithole of a countryside to visit, and to turn you away would be fiendish. You should take your time until you have had enough. The least I can do is offer you a cup of tea.”
Oh, I like this character.
I thought so a few seconds after Kamikiri-sama opened his mouth. It’s nice to have a character who can be snarky without being obnoxious.
Anyway, there is no horror plot or “You want skills? Then you should pass the trial.” There was no such troublesome development at all, so I was at ease. I was able to obtain [Craft] easily.
I was also looking at other craftsman-related skills that he can teach, and there are some pretty interesting ones!
To be honest, I didn’t have a very good impression of craftsmen. They seem plain, like ceramics or paper crafts, and I thought they were just a bunch of extras left over from major production jobs, such as those of tailors, blacksmiths, and craftsmen.
I’m sorry, crafters, I’m aware that I’m being extremely disrespectful.
But looking at the list of skills like this, various useful abilities that can be enjoyed enough to scratch an itch, or use them as the primary production.
At this point, I’m embarrassed to say, I’m finally realizing the truth of Zoe’s statement, “Skills are important, [Star Crystal] are important.” Indeed, just one more skill will give you a lot of playing flexibility.
No matter how many star crystals I have, it won’t be enough.
But in the end, I gave in to temptation and used the one remaining star crystal as well. Heh heh.
I’ll let you know what I acquired when I use it.
And while I’m at it, let’s check out the high skills that Kamikiri-sama can teach. So I tapped on the “Teach me the secrets of the boundary” option.

The ruby naming and the flavor text are still full of chuunibyou. Instead, Kamikiri-sama only has one high skill.
Still not sure what this description alone says, so I look it up on the internet.
Breath Hair is a skill that enables automatic marionette-ization of handmade dolls, right? Dolls are items that are classified as special equipment, and they can be used with a certain degree of independence, just like a member of an NP party.
Although their performance is considerably lower than that of NPCs and tamed beasts, their advantage is that they can be used as equipment regardless of the type of party they are part of.
Their disadvantages are that their efficiency is further reduced when used by players other than the creator, and their low wear and tear value means that they must be frequently sent to the creator for maintenance to be used for an extended time.
The marionette dolls have their quirks, but if handled well, they can be helpful and visually appealing, which is why there is a relatively small but substantial number of fans of the marionette dolls.
That reminds me, sometimes there are people who ask for “doll outfits” in the request box. Since I don’t know their sizes and don’t have a pattern for them, I usually skip over them, but they may be marionette users.
Incidentally, there is also an item called “Automata Doll” that is upwardly compatible with this item. These dolls are mechanical dolls made by combining iron parts and powered by [Phantom Stone].
Yet, the inventor who made this item is said to be so rare that there are no decent inventors left, and the item can be considered a mirage.
