“Calm down! You forgot about our secret weapon!”
The volume was so loud that my ears overheard.
The voice comes from the tent in front of me. Excessive sound pressure is shaking the tent’s fabric.
With his outstanding voice, he is definitely a strong man. He must be Remrest’s first prince because he is in there.
The confused troops had fallen silent, whether because of his charisma or because they were startled by the loud voice.
A man emerges from the tent.
He is tall and muscular, showing even over his clothes. The head, without a single hair, was probably shaved by himself. While the prince was supposed to be about 30 years old, he was so dignified that he looked more like he was over 50.
There was only one odd thing about the big man: He had what looked like a gas mask attached to his mouth.
“Don’t mind about this! I’ll show you! The official name is ‘Kaze-347 Type 4’ also known as Loud Voice, Naru-kun! It’s a magical tool I developed!”
The loud noise again made me cover my ears.
When you thought you had eliminated someone strong, you got another strong person.
He says with his loudspeaker-like magical device still on, even though it’s unnecessary.
“You seem concerned about the effect of Loud Voice, Naru-kun! This! Tool! It spreads the wearer’s voice with wind magic! In other words, it makes the voice louder! Buahahaha!”
Hearing the loud voice at close range made me feel a little queasy.
Why bother explaining it? There is no need to explain when it has an overly obvious name.
The guns I saw in the Remrest had similar names, and I would like to know if this kind of naming is popular.
Confused at the prince-like figure, another man emerged from the tent. This man was the opposite of the large man, who looked so thin that he looked as if he might break at any moment. With unhealthily pale skin, he looked like he had been cooped up for a long time.
He is a researcher-like man, covering his ears and letting out a faint voice.
“Proffesor, proffesor, please take off Naru-kun. It’s too noisy.”
“What?! I can’t hear you?! Why don’t you speak louder!”
“Proffesor developed Type 1 Kaze-347, right? Type 3 and type 4 were invented by the second arsenal. It’s amazing that you were able to take Type 1, which had no use, and transform it into something useful.”
“What?! The original is what makes it great! To make something from nothing is great!”
“You heard me. The 347th was created by trying to copy a dungeon-produced magical tool, wasn’t it? And you’re copying them.”
“No… shut up!”
“It’s the professor who is noisy. Remove Naru-kun.”
Just when I thought the knight with a strong character had escaped, two more with strong characters joined.
And they both apparently are not the prince. They are having a professor/assistant-ish exchange.
Where is the First Prince of Remrest who was supposed to be here? Don’t tell me that this magnificent tent is a diversion and the prince himself is somewhere inconspicuous?
“Excuse me, where is the First Prince?”
“The prince? The prince is freaking out when he hears my voice in his ears! Fuahaha!”
The professor pointed behind him and calmly said that. Can you get away with laughing like that?
I didn’t expect him to respond. He seemed to tell me everything, so I asked him something else.
“Then who are you?”
“I’m Leonardo, the head of Remrest first magic tool arsenal! This is my assistant.”
“I’m just a researcher forced to babysit the professor.”
The assistant was annoyed by the loud doctor slapping him on the back, even though he had removed the megaphone.
The panic had subsided, although I was fed up with the weirdness of the situation. Had they not come out, it would have been difficult to act defeated. Could we somehow use the two of them to lose well?
Then, the promising duo begin to make their move.
“Give me the secret weapon!”
“You’re the professor, aren’t you?”
“…I understand! Prepare the auxiliary device with the coordinates!”
The secret weapon is no longer hidden because of the professor’s loud voice. Preparation seems to be required for the secret weapon, and if I attacked at this time, I would be sure to win the whole thing.
But I remained quiet and watched them. They could successfully defeat me by using the secret weapon.
The assistant who entered the tent returned immediately. On his shoulders, he carried four rods as tall as he was. The rods were thin, but they looked heavy. It seemed like a poor choice for him to do all the heavy lifting.
He approaches me and sticks the rod into the ground near me. One, two, three rods are jabbed into the ground as he surrounds me.
Not wanting to interfere, I took a few steps back.
“Please stay where you are!I don’t want to redo this!”
“Ah, sorry.”
Something about the assistant made me angry.
The rods are arranged to form a square with me in the center.
“Please move a little to the left.”
“…Like this?”
“Ah! You’re going too far!”
Following the assistant’s instructions, my feet move to the precise location.
The secret weapon requires using four rods to mark the target’s location. What a flawed device.
The equipment would be useless unless someone were willing to wait for the equipment to be installed without moving.
The only person who would take such a thing seriously is someone who seems to want to lose on purpose.
“Professor, the coordinate designator has been installed.”
“Thank you for putting up with me! Now it’s time for Sur-kun!”
The professor pulled out a white cube that was small enough to fit in the palm of his hand. The cube glowed slightly.
“What is that…?”
“Light-997 Type 1, sealed Sur-kun. Hundreds years ago, the so called Demon King of the Barshain Kingdom was sealed by the first queen. This is a recreation of that sealing magical tool!”
This guy will answer anything, won’t he? Okay, so it’s a magical tool that sealed the Demon King. From its looks, it has a light attribute, which means it would be effective against me. For him to remain trapped for hundreds of years, I might be in danger, too.
…This is not the time to be acting like a loser.
Upon realizing that I was jumping into a deadly situation myself, I immediately began to take action. Whatever composure I had earlier was gone, and impatience had taken over my mind.
In an attempt to snatch away the device in the professor’s hand, he kicked the ground.
Immediately, a shock hit my head.
“Aw…”
I’ve been through this sensation before. The pain was the same as when I hit the church’s warding magic tool, which the duke had taken out.
In a panic, I checked the surroundings by reaching out my hand and found that a perfect square warding had been generated along the four support pillars.
If I couldn’t get to the magical tool’s physical device, I would have to destroy the auxiliary device.
I grasped one of the pillars to pull it out.
“Ouch!”
The moment I touched the rod, I felt an unbearable pain in my hand and unintentionally let go.
“The light attribute is her weakness. Then, seal Sur-kun! Activate!”
The cube glows radiantly and floats away from the professor’s hand.
Guided by the stakes, the cubes spiraled around me.
Despite the pain I was prepared for, they were not there at all. I was enveloped in light magic, which lulled me into a pleasant sleep—
Flying higher, digging into the ground, and escaping down below. Eliminating the stakes with Black Hole. There are many possible strategies as to what to do next.
I have to do those things and escape, but I can’t escape from the comfort. How I wish I could melt away and fall asleep.
In my gradually fading consciousness, I heard Patrick’s voice.
“Yumiela!”
Please forgive me for running away from home, for being selfish, and for not wanting to have a wedding ceremony.
Patrick shouldn’t be here. This must be a hallucination—
