Day 74: Double Skill

Day 74 login

The skill [Begging] became available for the long-sleeved kimono. Then, as a set bonus for the three items combined in the Stylish series, [Dispersing Umbrella Triple Payback].

Two collection skills ended up attached.

What’s more, it can be set up even with products from different professions―a new discovery.

For the past few days, I’ve been working hard on finding the conditions that trigger these events.

But this experiment consumed a ton of soda, so even though it wasn’t the scheduled delivery date, I ended up placing an extra order with Momo Finance.

Since I didn’t want to deal with another shortage like this, I bought three dozen this time. Even though there’s a fee for off-schedule transactions, I didn’t want to keep calling them out every time.

It’s weird, though. I’ve been keeping a tight grip on my wallet since the day I bought the property.

After gulping down soda and trying all sorts of things, the truth is… I can’t really say anything definite.

Unlike when I discovered the hidden crafting recipe last time, this time I couldn’t clearly find any rules like “doing this will definitely trigger the double skill” or “doing that will definitely trigger the setup.”

This may be because I still lack recipes and materials, or because I haven’t done enough testing. But what I also vaguely suspect is that this double skill might not even have any “guaranteed conditions” to begin with—maybe it’s just a probabilistic event that occurs when specific conditions are met.

If this is the case, then endlessly searching for non-existent guaranteed conditions and conducting endless tests feels incredibly futile. Realising this, I somehow found myself resigned to it.

I think I did manage to pinpoint the specific conditions that underlie this probability event, though. It’s like the conditions for obtaining the lottery ticket needed to draw the lottery.

Well, it’s pretty much what I expected.

Preparing to draw the Double Skill lottery likely requires two steps.

First, use the familiar “Soda + labor + hidden Miracle material” combo to guarantee a Big Miracle. Then, creating sets with items from different professions.

This would qualify me to draw the lottery ticket.

Now, to group items from different professions, I believe the following two steps are necessary.

First, instead of creating each item individually and then pressing ‘Complete Work’, you must make all the items and place them on the workbench before pressing ‘Complete Work’.

Yes, the key is the “workbench.” The computer seems to determine whether items are part of a set or still in progress based on whether they’re placed on this bench.

This is because if you try to stash items you’ve finished up to a logical point in your inventory or move them elsewhere, a dialogue asking if you want to complete the work appears.

If I select ‘No’ here, the items become immovable.

This means that items that I want to set together need to be left out on the table, whether they’re still in the middle of being crafted or already finished as individual pieces.

And second. I don’t have much evidence for this, and I’m not entirely confident, but it seems to be about using recipes for “series.”

Over the past few days of testing, I’ve found two successful patterns for combining production items from different professions into sets.

One pattern involves grouping items with a Japanese aesthetic, like a traditional Japanese umbrella and kimono, or zori sandals and a long-sleeved kimono.

But not all Japanese-style items work together. For example, I couldn’t combine Geta with a long-sleeved kimono. There might be specific rules within traditional Japanese attire.

Another pattern is the sewing recipe [Masquerade Dress] and the crafting recipe [Masquerade Mask]—you know, those white paper craft masks you often see at events like the Venice Carnival.

These items don’t explicitly state they belong to the same category. But looking at their designs, you can see why they’re grouped.

Maybe there is some invisible data out there showing that even products from different fields can be paired together.

I only have a handful of crafting recipes myself, so my conclusions barely scrape past the realm of speculation.

At this point, I’m starting to think it’s just a waste of time even to consider it.

Kimakura production involves so many elements and is just too complicated. Once I start thinking about making higher-quality items, items with more demand… well, my little brain short-circuits, and I lose track of everything.

Maybe it’s best to leave this kind of thing to more intelligent people, those more experienced with games. For someone like me, it’s probably best to stick to making whatever I want with my favourite materials and designs.

Since I know how to reliably get one guaranteed skill, there’s really no need to stress over chasing those uncertain double skills.

Remember: don’t get so caught up in the system’s depth and other players that you forget the pure “fun” right in front of you. Consider this the secret to being a true enjoyer.

By the way, this sentence translates to “I’m bored.”

Tomorrow, I think I’ll head out on an expedition for the first time in ages.

Hmm, I’ve been racking my brain over creation and experiments lately—time for a relaxing, laid-back outing to clear my head.

[Major Sergeant Ororo]
Digging ore nonstop in the Galactic Mine is my daily therapy
This keeps me going for tomorrow

[Letima]
The Galactic Mine’s great. So romantic
I also like the Tomb of the Ancient Kings
It’s just the right amount of dim and damp—really cosy

[Smithson]
Speaking of which, Lestein’s field is top-notch.
Chopping wood in the Sick Forest while searching for memory fragments? It’s just… absolutely perfect.

[Itachi]
The Sick Forest is calming
But the materials you can get there are kinda lame.

[Nene]
I get it.
As a healer, I want to gather Cosmos Ginger, but there aren’t any other decent medicinal herbs there.
Places with inconsistent materials are a pain to visit for production jobs.

[Yoshio www]
Oh wow, got some good news for you guys lol
This week’s Paradise Rush is happening in the Sick Forest

[Itachi]
Gah

[Smithson]

[Rinrin]
The materials you can get on the field during Paradise Rush are all upgraded, you know ^ ^
That’s great ^ ^

[Sage Bismarck’s Son]
But at the same time, all the evil stuff gets unlocked so that the hecklers will flood in, huh.

[Udon]
It’s bad news, no matter how you look at it
