Day 52: Japanese clothing issues

Day 52 login

Since yesterday, I’ve been working on “Japanese clothes. For men,” I wrote down various design ideas in my [Note], but I found that Japanese clothes are complicated.

Western clothing is inherently complicated, too, but my senses are probably not used to it.

After researching, I found that doing everything I want isn’t simple.

So today, I will digest these pre-tailoring tasks one by one.

First, I don’t have enough recipes to tailor a set of Japanese-style clothing.

I have three types: [Kimono・For Men], [Kimono・For Women], and [Haori・For Women]. Besides, I won’t make men’s haori this time, so that’s OK, but I would like to have nagajuban (under-kimono) and tabi (split-toed socks).

However, this is just an in-game fashion that is different from reality. The design won’t be purely Japanese but fantasy with other Asian touches.

Although I’m not an expert on kimonos, I don’t need to be so formal about it. The point is that I’m fine as long as it looks roughly like a kimono.

Therefore, I will alter the pattern of men’s kimonos to make them look like they are wearing nagajuban.

Nagajuban is a kimono undergarment, and by showing a glimpse of its collar, you can fashionably wear it as if you were wearing two kimonos.

I only want that glimpse and don’t care what else it does as an undergarment because there is no sweat.

The solution is to put a half collar on top of it to show a glimpse of the kimono. Those who are fanatical about kimonos may say it looks like a fake, but I doubt anyone here will be that fanatical.

But for tabi socks, I would like to get a recipe or at least a pattern.

I frequently get the recipes for free at the library, and I also go to the handicraft stores, where I can get the patterns.

But it’s inevitably a random system, with a set number of them per day. The same goes for Japanese clothing, and many other patterns are unavailable.

When I looked in the World Market to see if any players were selling their patterns, I found that they are pretty common. I found pattern paper and even recipe books.

I didn’t know that… nobody told me….

There are biases here, and not all the varieties are neatly lined up. But fortunately, I found the recipe for the [Tabi] I was looking for.

The price is 488,000 Kima. Somehow, I feel like I’m being watched.

Unlike pattern paper, recipe books can be purchased at bookstores, but again, they are random and change daily. And it’s limited to recipes for your profession—this is also true for the patterns sold in certain NPC stores and the recipes you find in the library—and I think this one has two types per day.

It also takes time and effort to check frequently, and I limit myself to Lestein’s library and handicraft stores, but there are probably some people out there who find even that a hassle.

Besides, random variables are skewed.

Just as it was difficult for me to find a Japanese-style recipe, it is not uncommon for someone else to find a different recipe. It is an everyday occurrence.

At the same time, it is not uncommon to find recipes that some people want so badly that they can’t wait to try them, but others are tired of seeing them.

In case you are wondering, the bookstore recipe book is priced at a flat 90,000 Kima. With the same content, the recipe book the player is selling at WM is 488,000 Kima.

…Are they spying on me?! The seller of this item says, “Hello, here is the recipe for the tabi you wanted. I bought it for 90,000, but the selling price is just under 500,000. But you’ll buy it. You can’t help but buy it. Isn’t that right? Right?” It’s like they’re trying to pick a fight with me!

It is also a bad thing that the recipes available through regular channels, such as libraries, are limited to one’s own occupation. This means that it is challenging to get the related recipes even if you have acquired production skills for other jobs.

When you see people only listing recipes in the store, and only those who do so are jacking up the price, I’m sure they are taking advantage of the high price of their own job’s recipes as an easy way to make money.

I guess that’s how business is done. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.

But it makes me angry! Yes, I’ll buy it, but! I’m so angry!

…Let’s get back on track and move on to the next issue. The next problem is the accessories, i.e., hats.

While there are recipes for cloth hats for tailors, the hats made from woven straw, such as kasa (coolie  hats) and straw hats, are the craftsman’s specialty. And geta (clogs) are also in the craftsman’s specialty.

I thought I didn’t have to prepare the geta, but I wanted to do something with the hats. Moreover, I thought of making it the star item while matching the other designs.

That would limit my actions already.

…Alright, I will use one of the [Star Crystals] that Ciel gave me!

I will get the skill [Craft]!

I would love that, but I hear that I need to meet Sage Kamikiri in order to get the skill.

Kamikiri is located in Sirahae. In other words, another nation.

To step foot in another nation, I need to advance through world missions and expedition quests to obtain the title of [Excellent Adventurer], which is currently impossible for me—huh? That reminds me. I got that title at a previous event, didn’t I?

There it is, the [Time Limited Title: Excellent Adventurer].

A quick research revealed that this title is limited to one month, but it works the same as the original “Excellent Adventurer” title. Lucky me.

Tomorrow, I’m off to my first visit to another country, Sirahae!

Was it Dam that dropped Ryl…
Lately, that guy is betting on Kimakura with their life

[universe202]
Well, they’re literally risking their life (source of income)

Some people are talking about dropping seven figures in Diary, but I wonder if it’s true

It’s an everyday occurrence ↓

It’s a gamble that’s not worth the return…

If you consider that it’s also publicity, it’s not a bad idea

Kimakura seems to have a huge number of viewers compared to its user base
They don’t want to play it themselves, but they recognize that it’s interesting enough to watch from the sidelines

[Nejiko+]
I understand that
After quitting this shitty game, I would watch Kimakura’s streaming and it looked like so much fun!
And then I come back to it again.
It’s a never-ending cycle

[Mosha]
Some of them don’t even play in the game itself, but hang out in Talk, Historia, and Diary

I’m going to stream it too

However, it has an overwhelming discourse compared to the number of viewers

Don’t do live streaming on the major sites
You’ll end up getting flamed to a crisp because you won’t follow the backsitting
If the video is edited and processed with as much thoroughness as Dam’s, then it’s acceptable

Dam’s videos sometimes look like abstract art images with “bleep” sounds, mosaic voices, and a series of mosaic backgrounds when they’re bad
