Day 40: Sick Forest (1)

Day 40 login

Today, we will continue yesterday’s expedition. After passing through the [Serenity Hill], we headed toward the [Sick Forest].

Something strange to me was that the number of players was larger than usual expeditions. It wasn’t a weekend or a holiday, huh…?

Although the difference in traffic is quite understandable if you say it’s just my imagination, the fact that I’m heading to a currently inaccessible field makes this amount of traffic a bit disconcerting.

If they are going to the remote town of Rendluszka, they have to go in a different direction from the previous road split, and this road should only lead to Sick Forest.

Some fully-packed players had heavy equipment, and I didn’t think they would do the world mission like me.

My first thought was to secretly deactivate my semi-active status and eavesdrop on what they were talking about, but as I looked around, my eyes met one of the passersby.

They smiled at me, so I gave them a slight smile and a nod, and then quickly walked on my way.

Lately, I’ve been experiencing this kind of thing a lot. When I first started playing the game, nobody paid attention to me when I was out and about, but now, whenever I go to a public place, I feel like someone is always watching me.

This is probably what I call being doxxed. Many people seem to know me, even if I don’t know them.

The revolutionary event and the date fiasco were the talk of the town, and I even showed up at Shadow-san’s SNS. I’ve come to terms with the fact that it can’t be helped.

Thanks to that, my business is thriving.

The only thing that hurts a little is that it’s hard to move around in the public eye like it is now.

People in semi-active mode have a balloon icon with “…” written on it, which disappears when they deactivate it. If you are observed like this, it is easy to tell when someone has started eavesdropping.

The person who tries to eavesdrop is at fault. If that is the case, they should have left it in active mode.

Without resolving my small wonder, the Sick Forest soon came into view. The forest looked like a huge Mont Blanc, sealed off by giant ivy plants and branches.

Huh? The fruit of the big tree in the center is red.

When I watched the video, it looked blue, but I don’t remember it that clearly, so I guess I’m wrong.

For some reason, the area near the forest’s entrance was crowded, with dozens of players hanging out there.

Some people were chatting, some were setting up their stalls on the spot, and not a few people were just sitting around doing nothing. But they all seem concerned about the forest, especially the big tree in the center of it.

Are they waiting for something…? Then there are the players who just walk away from the scene….

Whatever. I’ll look this up on the Internet later.

There was a popping sound, and I could confirm that the world mission [・ Go to the Sick Forest] had been accomplished. My goal had been fulfilled, so let’s go to the Rendluszka next.

Just as I was thinking that, I was stopped.

“Vivia-chan! Aren’t you Vivia-chan?!”

The woman’s voice was full of life, but it was unfamiliar to me. When I turned around, I saw a woman with butterfly wings, who was also unfamiliar to me.

However, it seemed that it wasn’t the same for the other person, and she ran up to me in a friendly manner, her lush ponytail swaying from side to side.

“It’s been a long time! I didn’t expect to see you here! What is this reaction? Stop acting. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten your master’s face?”

—Master… maybe it’s the one I’m supposed to be an apprentice for, Tefana-san?! Before I could arrive at the correct answer, however, Master Tefana seemed to be in a bad mood. She must be quite old since she is said to be a sage, but she turned away from me with her cheeks puffed out like a child’s.

“Oh, is this how it is? You are behaving like that just because you became independent, huh? You don’t care about your teacher when you no longer need me? That’s fine. Then I don’t know anything about you anymore either. Even if you cry to me later when you have trouble, I will never help you again.”

Her arms are crossed as she says this, kicking the ground while her gaze glances over.

H-huh? I had imagined Tefana-san to be a more mature and calm woman since she is a teacher and a sage….

The first letter I received gave me the impression that she was very friendly, but I had no idea she was this childish…

At first, I was puzzled, but I sent a stamp with the words “I’m sorry” and a flurry of flowers to cheer my master up. Then her face lit up instantly, and she said, “Ufufu, that’s okay. It’s nice to see you!” and moved closer to me.

She was simple, the type of girl who would be extremely popular. She was cute and smelled nice.

The players who were there a while ago have now disappeared. It seems that I have entered the individual event mode.

“It’s unusual for you to come to a place like this. …Me? I’m here because, you see, I’m in charge of the Sick Forest. Did you forget? I’m Tefana, ‘Guard of the Sick Forest,’ one of the four sages of Lestein. Also…”

Suddenly, my master turned her concerned gaze toward the forest.

“Recently, I’ve been particularly worried. The ‘Tree of Remembrance’ fruits are turning red and ripe, and I think they are about to burst….”

I knew I was right about the tree’s fruits turning red recently. But why did that make her worry?

The dialog appeared at the right moment to answer my question.

→・ What is the ‘Tree of Remembrance’?
・ Teach me the Secret of Boundary
・ Teach me the Secret of Tailor
 ・ Make small talk

Although I was curious about the skills, I chose the top option in the current situation. Then my master looked at me as if she had caught off-guard.

“…Oh, the other day, I heard from Giltoa. He said there had been a mess regarding Magdalene. You probably don’t remember this because you were so young, but Magdalene used to live in my house with me. She and Giltoa are old—really old—friends. And that tree holds… the memory of Magdalene.”

Her eyes softly glazed with sorrow, she began to tell her story. An event that occurred long ago among the sage—

[Kimakura Utopia. Talk Room (Official)・Communicative Missions Discussion]

[3745]
Why are so many of Kimakura’s character episodes involving romance?

[Mayu]
It’s like they’re trying to sell the character through date nights and such, but the players are generally excluded
That’s why I like the part about the doujinshi being more exciting

[Major Sergeant Oloron]
Does this mean the main scenario is centered on the sage?

[Behind the Shadow]
The producer said there are no main characters, and everyone is a main character
But from the player’s point of view, considering the scale of the story, it seems to me that the main character is the sage

[Asuka]
The main character is Ryl-sama, right?

[Chon]
The main character is Dirk

[Piano Jam]
>> Chon
With that feature, that’s laughable

[Poiret]
Dirk has a decent character in terms of skills and personality, so why two missions?
I’m not a fan of Dirk, but it’s not worth it

[Zoebel]
The main characters are Ciel-sama & Shanta-sama!

[Marin]
>> Zoebel
Please complete the first mission first
