Chapter 163: The Shop with Delicious Pasta

Minister of Defence POV

While training the soldiers, McDawn, an alchemist by the alias Nico, appeared.

“Here’s a letter for the King.”

“Hmm, I’ll deliver it immediately.”

It must be a reply concerning national defense.

I resist the urge to read it and head toward the royal quarters.

“Percy-kun, care to step out?

There’s a delicious restaurant just outside the castle.”

“I’ll accompany you.”

Percy and McDawn are heading out for a meal.

I, too, had such youthful days.

No. I must focus on the task at hand.

Deliver the letter to the royal family, clear the area, and read the letter with the king.

[Dear King Franbel IV.

I must decline the matter of national defense.

“…No good.”

“Your Majesty, the Grand Mage seems to favor a certain inn and shop.

If we threaten him using that as leverage…”

“He’ll fly into a rage and destroy the country.”

“……”

“The heroes’ escape will be discovered sooner or later.

We’re covering it up for now by saying they’ve been sent on an expedition, but it won’t last long.

Increase the number of soldiers immediately—and do it discreetly.”

“Yes, sir!”

Oh, for heaven’s sake. Those heroes, acting so selfishly.

And I doted on them so much.

Well, never mind. I’ll just consider them dead.

There’s no point in dwelling on those who are gone forever.

I decided to head to the office in front of the castle to issue a request for volunteer soldiers.

Alchemist McDawn’s POV

This is one of my favorite restaurants.

It specializes in pasta—those yellow noodles—and serves delicious pasta dishes at reasonable prices.

I approached Percy because he had guarded me for so long, making him easy to talk to.

This time, I wanted to ask him for some advice.

Of course, I’d treat him to a meal.

After ordering and paying up front, two servings of carbonara arrived.

It’s a pasta dish with eggs and milk mixed in. After enjoying it, I brought up the topic.

“Actually, I have a favor to ask…”

“What is it?”

“I’m nineteen now, and I hear it’s getting awkward not to settle down.

Please recommend any guys you know, from the barracks or acquaintances.”

“……?!”

Why is Percy-kun so surprised?
