—If you think about it, this dress is going to be very expensive…
It was only after I had already finished tailoring three dresses that I realized this. Oh no, I’ve done it.
What Memeko is proposing in the first place, as a premise, is a design request. It had been a while since I had worked on production, so I got really into it, but I didn’t need to drink [Soda], seriously.
Because of that, all three of the dresses I tailored were well-made. They are also excellent in performance.
Assuming the price is set as usual, the minimum price would be 2.5 million kima per piece.
It was a mistake to undertake time-consuming work for someone who sent me a random request like, “I want it with skills!”
When you think about it, people who focus on the design aspect are the same as those who ignore the performance and don’t require skills; and, of course, they would never expect what they requested to be sold to them for 2.5 million kima.
Ahhhh, I feel like I tried so hard for nothing. However, this trend is partly inevitable from a systemic perspective.
By investing the time and effort to design a product, you can develop valuable skills.
Perhaps I’m being selfish, but I’m happy if people who like the design and buy the product are also happy with the performance and skills.
It’s a little disappointing, but I can’t help what I’ve made. The three pieces with skills will be put on display at the shop later.
And for Memeko, I’ll make her a dress with the same design as the one registered as a result of this work, utilizing my sewing skills. The item will then be made at a normal price, without the Miracle, and with a reasonable performance.
If this were someone I knew well, I wouldn’t mind selling it at a service price, but Memeko-san and I don’t have that kind of relationship. I’m not even thinking about lowering the price and selling the item with skills.
There are a lot of things I’ve been thinking about lately, and for what it’s worth, I’d like some money too.
However, putting that aside, there is one more thing that bothers me a little. Even if the performance of this item is comparable, it is expensive due to the large number of stone beads used.
Onyx and quartz are not worth mentioning, but even the cheapest sapphire stones cost 1,500 kima for 10 pieces.
You might think, “That’s not that big of a deal,” right? These clothes use about 800 pieces of sapphire alone.
It’s stupid. Haha.
That means 150 kima per piece, so x800, 120,000 kima. That is the cost of my recent regular clothes without soda and Miracle.
If I add the 120,000 for the sapphire beads to that, the selling price is 240,000 kima. That’s double the price of my regular clothes.
Although it is indeed much better than being sold 2.5 million worth of clothes, I wonder if Memeko-san would be surprised. I’d better release a low-priced version of the first dress I made.
I wanted to create a novelty, so the second outfit? But I don’t like the look.
…And so on.
I know it’s wrong to start thinking that way in the first place. There was no price specified, and the request was vague: simple, modern-style clothing.
This was not custom-made, but a request to avoid complaints of “It’s not what I had in mind!”
Memeko-san also has the option of “not buying”.
But since I had made three dresses on the spur of the moment, I really wanted her to be satisfied with her purchase.
Having given it a lot of thought, I decided to ask Memeko-san what she wanted.
The first thing I did was to contact Memeko-san, who had previously contacted me by replying to a message I had sent.
I told her that I had prepared several varieties of the requested items for her to choose from, and that I would like to send her pictures if possible. I asked her to add me as a friend, even if only temporarily.
Although there is a way to communicate with non-friends via chat, it requires a fee.
Due to the situation with Kimchi-san, who has yet to respond, I was hesitant about sending this kind of message.
It’s not that I’m blaming Kimchi-san or anything, but I’ve recently had a similar experience myself that scared me a little bit. Someone with a name in Hangul, a language I don’t understand, suddenly sent me a friend request.
If I were in an environment where friend requests are a common occurrence, such as the follow/follow back exchanges on social media, I probably wouldn’t think twice about it. But this was the first time I had received a friend request from a stranger in Kimakura.
It would be different if I were an active player who is often in active mode and actively involved in expeditions, but I am a semi-active shut-in.
Being semi-active is like labeling myself as someone reluctant to interact with others, and I don’t often find myself in a position where I can catch someone’s attention or receive a request.
Knowing this, I’m not in the mood to accept requests from unfamiliar people, so I’m ignoring them for now. Also, I don’t speak Korean.
My personality makes me always nervous when I send something to someone online, but in contrast to Kimchi-san, I received a friend request from Memeko-san within five minutes.
I accepted it with trepidation, and within a minute, a message appeared in my chat room.
Wow, this person is very experienced in online games. Whatever the case, I was glad that things were going smoothly.
Without so much as a hello, I presented her with seven options regarding the request.
The first three options were to sell any of the three standard versions of the dresses, completed as requested in the request box.
The second three options were to sell one of the dresses with skills, since there might be cases where people want the one with skills.
The last option is to choose not to buy any of them.
There was some hesitation about this; unlike the previous immediate responses, a brief pause followed. It was about 30 minutes.
And here is the answer that came back.
[Memeko]
I’m sorry, I can’t choose one.
I know I’m pushing it, but I’d like to buy all three types with skills.
I am willing to negotiate the price.
Is that okay? ><
I did a double-take.
