Chapter 29: Kneading the clay

Alright, today we’re going to get some housewares.

And I’m a cat.
Of course, I can’t shop for myself.

If I can’t buy the things I need, then I will make it instead.
Like those saying, “Do it yourself.”

Let’s move to the river.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

I moved the water from the river into my dimensional space.
This skill is really useful.

Normally, I’d need to make a clay pot to draw the water.

But since I don’t know whether I get to keep my skills, I’ll make one clay pot, just in case.

And I need to get a reasonable flat sized stone.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

After wandering through the forest, I found a clay soil source.

I moved them inside my fourth-dimensional space, like a lot of them.

Maybe it’s about 2 houses’ worth of soil.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

I decided that the furnace will be built in front of my treehouse.

If it’s just camping, I could arrange the stones in a U-shape and that would be fine. But since I’m going to settle here, I’m going to make it big.

The first step is to take out the clay and mix it with water and knead it.
After successfully kneading the clay, stack them up in a U-shape.

Put some dried leaves or dried wood inside, put several drops of lava and light it up.
Making it over a fire dries the clay faster.

Create a slab of clay with a hole in the middle, allow it to dry and place it in the furnace.
Place the thing on top of this and heat it up.

This time, stack the clay on top and make a dome shape on top of it in a U-shape.
The smoke was rising from a hole in the top of the dome.

This is nice. Very warm.

I like it.

With the furnace completed, it’s time for the next step.
Time to make pots and plates from clay, dry them and heat them in the furnace.

Fill the made pot with water and place it in a furnace to boil.

Now I’ll have clean water to drink whenever I want.

Meanwhile, I put a few grasshoppers with plucked legs on a plate and grill them.

Take out the dish and eat it. Delicious.

In truth, I should take the plate out with a piece of wood between them because it’s hot, but apparently I’m a heat-tolerant.
Even when I was soaked in magma, I was safe.

After eating the grasshopper, I made more pots and bowls.
Before I forget, I also made a few glasses.

Grabbing the glass with both hands, I scoop some water from the pot and drink it.
Uwaah, it’s so refreshing in my throat.

「Nyaー(Ah, I want to drink a beer.)」

Maybe I’ll make one when I can spare the time?
Do you think it would be possible to make it with incomplete ingredients?
No, cats shouldn’t have been drinking alcohol in the first place, yes.

Today is exhausting, so let’s just go to bed.

I filled the bowl with water and didn’t forget to wash my hands, then went into the house and curled up.
Oyasuminasai.

Unfortunate that the opportunity for ‘Oyasumi-NYA-sai’ was missed.

(don’t really comment much so don’t know how to bold/italic)

Seems this cat has very special paws, if he’s able to make pottery.
